Avantdale Bowling Club, the self-titled debut album by the project led by Tom Scott, a rapper and musician from Auckland, New Zealand, blends elements of hip hop and jazz with live instrumentation to explore themes of personal struggle, social issues, and identity. Upon its release in 2018, Avantdale Bowling Club received widespread acclaim and won the prestigious Taite Music Prize, as well as the award for Album of the Year at the 2019 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards.Â
